Guided group hiking in the Pays de Gex

Looking for a hiking club near Divonne-les-Bains, Gex or Geneva? WhyTrek is not a club with a membership and an annual fee. It is a mountain leader trained by experts, offering three ways to walk as a group, with no commitment and a guide on every outing.

Every outing is a guided hike: the guide chooses the route, sets the pace and looks after the group’s safety. Whether you are after an organised half-day hike or a long day on the ridges, all you need to prepare is your rucksack.

Outings open to everyone

Several times a month, guided outings are open to anyone who signs up, alone or with others. Each has its own theme and dates, published on the Our events page.

RandOpéra

A hike from Divonne-les-Bains, with an operatic interlude out in nature. The morning outings suit every level, including people with reduced mobility. Discover RandOpéra.

RandoSpa

Every other Friday, a brisk morning hike, lunch, then the spa of a partner hotel in Divonne-les-Bains in the afternoon. Discover RandoSpa.

RandoSpores

In autumn, an outing to observe and identify mushrooms in the Pays de Gex, open to beginners and families alike. Dates depend on the mushroom season. Discover RandoSpores.

The WhatsApp communities

To hear about upcoming outings, each format has its own WhatsApp community. Dates are announced there before they appear on the website. Joining is free and without commitment, you can leave the group at any time, and you receive two or three messages a month, never more.

A private hike for your group

With friends, family or a club, you can also book an outing for your group alone, on the date of your choice. Routes range from an easy walk around Divonne-les-Bains to a long day in the Alps. The price is a flat rate for the group: the more of you there are, the lower the price per person, from €24 per person. See the day hikes.

For a team or a works council, dedicated formats are presented on the Corporate offer page.

An organised hike in the Jura, easy to reach from Geneva and the Pays de Gex

Outings take place in the Monts Jura, above Lake Geneva: forests, mountain pastures and ridges facing the Alps. Routes range from a walk around the Divonne springs and marshes to a demanding day up to the summits of the range. In winter, they can also be done on snowshoes. From Geneva, the meeting point can be reached by car or car-share. Practical details are sent before each outing.

What an outing looks like

You meet at the starting point. Before setting off, a short briefing covers the route, the day’s weather and the pace. The pace is set by the slowest walker in the group, with regular breaks and stops to explain what you come across along the way.

All practical information, including equipment, is sent a few days before the outing. Dogs are not allowed on the outings.
